About Alex
You could say I've been taking pictures since I've been able to hold a camera. I got my start in photography at age 6 when my sister was born. My parents, in an attempt to show they still loved me despite my new baby sister, bought me a bright blue, rubber-coated Fisher Price camera that used real film. It took real pictures, though I'm sure they were real bad pictures. I think my parents finally got to the point where they stopped developing the film that was undoubtedly full of photos of stuffed animals, bugs, and the TV. Eventually I was able to find more interesting subjects. In college I was the photo editor for the Vanderbilt newspaper shooting everything from sports and events for the paper and an occasional wedding and portrait on the side. The newspaper experience allowed me to develop an eye for photojournalism: What was the story? Who was involved? How can I use the photo to show the reader what the accompanying article encompasses?
Since the days of shooting film in college, I have graduated to digital and since formed "Alex the Photo Guy." I now continue my passion in a professional setting by photographing weddings, portraits, events, engagements and even sports. If there's a good time to be had, I want to be there with my camera and goofy smile.
